Timex UFO – Mechanical
The 1970s were a weird time for watch design, and that's a big part of why I love them.
This Timex UFO is a perfect example. The oversized brushed case, floating dial design, and dramatic angles make it look like something pulled straight from a science fiction movie. Fifty years later, it still feels a little futuristic.
What really makes the watch work, though, is the dial. The silver center is framed by a black chapter ring, and the bright white hands jump off the dial in a way that immediately catches your eye. It's simple, clean, and surprisingly modern for a watch that's been around this long.
Why We Like It
The case is what gets your attention first. At 39.5mm, it wears much larger than most vintage Timex watches and has a ton of wrist presence thanks to the wide brushed bezel. It's one of those watches that feels distinctly seventies without looking like a costume piece.
The longer you look at it, the more details you notice. The black chapter ring adds depth, the date window is tucked neatly into the dial, and those bright white hands make the whole design pop.

Fishtown Watch Supply Thoughts
This is exactly the kind of watch I love finding. It's weird, affordable, and has way more personality than you'd expect from a vintage Timex. If somebody told me this watch was designed after a designer spent the weekend watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, I'd probably believe them.
