Caravelle Automatic – West Germany
Caravelle was Bulova's more affordable line, but every now and then you come across one that makes you stop and take a second look.
This is one of those watches.
Made in West Germany and powered by an automatic movement, it has a clean silver dial, applied gold-tone numerals, and just enough detail to keep things interesting without feeling busy. The date window is tucked neatly at three o'clock, and the mix of numerals and markers gives the dial a lot of personality.
It's simple, but not boring.
Why We Like It
The dial gets it right.
The applied numerals at 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 give the watch a little more character than your typical dress watch, while the silver dial keeps everything balanced. The gold-tone hands and markers catch the light nicely, and the automatic movement means there's a little bit of mechanical charm behind the scenes.
Most watches in this price range don't have much of a story.
This one was made in a country that doesn't even exist anymore.

Fishtown Watch Supply Thoughts
I like watches that surprise people.
Most collectors walk right past the Caravelle section and head for the expensive stuff. Every once in a while, that's a mistake. This watch has a great dial, an automatic movement, and a little piece of Cold War history built right into it.
Not bad for a watch that flies under the radar.
